Most Terrifiying Experience in my life

Indeed the most terrifying experience to me, my husband and the entire family in our life. ZoZo had a fit in the night and was sent to KKH A&E immdiately.....

On 17th March, it was suppose to be a happy occasion as stated in my previous post, it's DarDar's birthday. Anyway, we already dun really have the mood to celebrate as ZoZo was having fever since Sunday. Well, in the afternoon, we brought him to see Dr Tan as his fever rose to 39 and above. He was prescribed with Biufen, and it did help to lower his temperature.

So we decided to quickly go run our errands for his birthday bash. Went middle road ICB building to get some party stuffs then went over to pick tajie from her office and went The Pattisier together to decide for his cake. Wakaoz....damn swee the cake designs but damn expensive too...."ho kua but may not be ho jiak"...cos the design of the cake is mainly sugar, pragmatically it's not the usual kinda cake for people to eat....Anyway, will decide again...cos really not in the mood to make decision. So we just bought 2 small slices to try. Hey, 2 small slices niah cost jie $12+ liao leh....actually I wanted to get a whole cake for DarDar as mum told me to buy one for him, but was all sold out.... :(

Mum wanted us to go Tampines Mall to get 1 from Four Leaves or Angies. But was getting late, so we decided to go nearby and just grab a cake. Jie was suggesting Tanjong Pagar has a very good cake shop too. Something like...Berraciano...cant recall the shop name lah...when we got there, no whole cakes oso....haiz...cos they are currently concentrating on the puffs and muffins as it was featured on the TV or newspaper lah...in the end went to next cake shop away to get a normal wan loh...DarDar doesn't mind, but Mum was questioning us why get such a normal cake for him woh...

Got home, ZoZo's fever still hasnt subsided. So we had a quick dinner, while ZoZo was sleeping we just did a quick cake cutting after LeLe and Aloysius sang to DarDar. No mood lah...when he's still feeling so listless and sick. Mum then told us to quickly go buy some specially packed incense paper and joss sticks to pray for him. Thot maybe he kena scat by something, because even when he's asleep, every few minutes he will get startled and jump up abit. So we quickly went to hunt for it and finally found it from one almost 1 shop at St 21.

Got home, Mum chanted some prayers for him, then went down with Mini to burn the incense paper, candle and joss sticks. I was carrying ZoZo, cuddling him, as he was very manja and irritable. Strolling up and down the aircon area....suddenly he gave a loud cry, so his Alan said he will takeover to carry him, who know's when I wanted to pass him over to his PaPa, he bent himself backwards until I almost dropped him. I thought it was he's usual self, whereby at times, when's he frustrated he will do that, but it's not. His wholebody went soft and when his Alan carried him, I noticed his eyes rolled up!!! He looked so scary.......he was almost unconsious, I quickly took the cold tower to sponge his head and neck again, and kept calling out his name. I kept saying "ZoZo....please don't do this to us, c'mon ZoZo, wake up !! wake up!!..." I told Alan, something is very wrong, we have to go the hospital immediately.

Took his BC and health book and wanted to run out already, but while Alan was carrying him in the living room waiting to go, ZoZo started to get Fits!! Alan quickly put his finger in to let him bite to prevent him from biting his tongue. When his bite was getting hard and tight, Alan started to feel the pain in his finger, I tried to open his mouth and put mine in, but Alan stopped me and told me to get a spoon. Panickly, I ran into the kitchen get a teaspoon and jack open his mouth to put it in. He's eyes was still rolled up....he was pale and green. He started clenching his fist tight, then his wholebody started trembling.....Mum came up with Mini, I shouted "Ma....have to go hosptial immediately!!"...Mum was more panicked, she almost fainted. Mum, Jie, Alan, myself were all FREAKING....

Mum was trembling, but had to call Diana to keep her informed. She said will meet us at KKH A&E direct with Charles and his mum. I drove, as Alan was carrying ZoZo. We called Annie as well, she came along. In the car, we kept calling his name, Alan kept singing to him, I switch to his favourite CD and let him listen and make sures he is awake and alert. My mind was going haywire....but I have to keep myself calm, as I have to reach KKH ASAP but SAFELY. While on our way, in the car, fortunately ZoZo started to whine and cried abit. Phew...! At least he's more alert and able to make some noise already.

Almost every babies in A&E was having fever. All has the fever patch on their forehead. Charles Mum was trying to help us shorten the queue as she was a staff nurse before in KKH. But still has to follow rules. Anyway she did help to provide advise and directed us to where we should go. Diana volunteered to park the car for me and let me go do the registration. But she was so panicked until she has forgotten how to control the car. No time and not in the right frame of mind to laugh at her, but deep down I was seriously laughing. And from this incident, can really show how much we love ZoZo until everyone was lost. I'm proud that I'm still quite composed, even though my knees and limb was as soft as tofu.

The MO checked and asked us to relate the whole incident...blahblahblah..... anyway he advised that it was a Febrile Fit. It's a very very common thingy to babies from 6months to 6 years old who's fever that hit higher then 39.5. As long as the fit doesnt prolong more then 20minutes, it will NOT affect their brain and development. He told us once ZoZo had this fit, there will be a 30% reccurence if he has high fever again. He also warned us, NOT to put any objects into his mouth. Even our fingers, as it will cause unnecessary injury to him and to ourselves. Gota place him on his side and make sure it's on a flat surface to prevent choking of any foreign material or secretions. Anway, it was our first time, panick and freaking out wat....of course we will try to do anything to prevent him from biting his tongue or even hurting his own lips.

As ZoZo is still below 1.5 years, the MO said he has to be admitted in order to observe him further to see the cause of the fever and prevent any reccurence of fit incase the temperature shot up again. Was a long scary and tiring experience.....
