Finally Home Sweet Home

Finally ZoZo can be discharged today. Hip hip hooray...!!! Home Sweet Home....past few days was also not easy for us....so damn tired....

17 Mar 2008
09:45 - 10:20pm
ZoZo kena fits. Whole family panicked. Immediately drove him to KKH A&E.

10:21 - 12:14 am
Queue, Register, Wait. Went into the Red Door area for immediate treatment. MO checked and advise about Febrile Fit. Immediately he administer him with paracetamol. While waiting for the admission procedure, we have to let him wait at observation ward as he had just suffered from a fit. He was already alert and started to get hungry but we did not bring any of his bottles. So the nurses prepared 1 for him using the hospital bottle. But he refused to drink, cause not his bottle. Ha... Den he pooed in his diaper while Alan and I was registering for his admission. Mum said was damn big packet and smelly...haha..finally some signs of relive for the us and the family.
18 Mar 2008
12:15 - 1:oo am
Settled in Ward 46, bed 10. A young nurse Janice, gave us a detailed orientation of the room and was asking questions about ZoZo's history. He was very getting more cranky and sticky to mum and whines more. While Diana send Charles and his Mum and Annie home, she also went home to pack some barang for Alan and myself and of course ZoZo's clothes and milk bottles. She also fetched Jie and Mini down to see how's he's getting on.
While waiting for his milk, 1st MO came, Dr Kenneth Wong. Wanted to check ZoZo but he was very fretful and started wailing. I was carrying him and we were trying to comfort him so that the doc can check properly.
1:01 - 2:00 am
Finally he had his milked, and mum was patting him to sleep. When he was sleeping soundly, 2nd MO came, Dr Chee. He told us he has to draw his blood to do a test. And next day will have to also take his urine and test to see if it's UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). I refused to let him draw his blood at this hour as he was already fast asleep and so tired after the incident. And already sleeping so peacefully....no way man...I told him to do it next morning. After seeing so many docs and going through so much the whole night, he's already getting fretful seeing strangers. Especially those who has a stethescope hanging on their neck. Both of us quickly go take a shower before mum they all went home.
2:01 - 3:30 am
Told Alan to take a nap first before he takeover. We were all swarmed by the whole incident. While I was patting ZoZo in his sleep, I noticed again he kept jumping abit abit every few minutes. My tears rolled down....when I looked at his tired little burning face. Recalling how he looked when he had the fit attack...my heart just ache so much....For us adults to hit such high temprature we already feel so irritable, uncomfortable and heavy head...imagine such a frail little head and body like ZoZo had to experience that as well....again it pains my heart....
3:31 till next morning
Alan woke up and noticed me crying, he told me to go rest and sleep while he takeover. Reluctantly, I had to...as I'm really feeling weak. We can't afford to fall sick now as we have to take care of ZoZo.
Every hour the nurses will come in and take his temperature. He was doing very well, his fever sbusisded the whole night. He was around 36-37 degrees.
7:00 - 9:30 am
Then I heard 40.1 degrees. I jumped up from my sleep. Told the nurse to check the other ear, was the same....shucks!!! Y so high suddenly??!! OHMIGAWD.....was so frightened he suffer from another fit attack. Fortunately it did not happened. Gave him his milk and paracetamol and wait for the docs morning round to see him. Consultant CT Chong (an slender old lady) came with the 2 MOs (follower). Told us same thing, he will have to take urine and blood test, etc lah....
My MIL and Shi-Jie came. ZoZo was happily playing with Shi-jie, at least he is actively playing already. Mum and Diana came with more barang for us and ZoZo. A nurse came in to put a bag to ZoZo penis inorder to collect his urine for the test. Same one like what he did at Aglow when he had UTI last year.
When I was feeding ZoZo, my MIL and Shi-jie was making a move home already. When he heard "bye-bye" he pushed away his milk bottle and wanted to follow. So Alan brought him down together and send them off to the shuttle bus waiting area. While waiting for the docs to take his blood, my new boss replied my sms. She was very understanding and told me to take as much time as I need and not to think about work and going back to office as ZoZo needs me more now. After reading her sms, just felt so comforted. Even though she's still single but she knows how a parent felt and how much time we as a parent need to be away from work for our child. NOT every bosses are as understanding.
Finally the nurse came and say have to bring ZoZo go into the treatment room to draw blood. I told Alan to go with him, as I cant bear to see him kena poke and cry so painfully. When they walked out, my tears rolled down. The thought of it just pains my heart again. Kenneth, Rozi, Ann and Rachel came to visit ZoZo. After awhile, Alan carried him back with the plaster on his little hands already. Heng... not as bad as what I've expected. Of course cried lah, but he was ok after walking out from the treatment room.
Jason's mother came as well. Shortly Jie came oso after settling her work in office. Late in the afternoon finally his urine and blood test report is out. Another lady doc came and provide advise to us. She has confirmed that his urine is clear. Lucky siah...no UTI. Just that his white blood cells count are low, so his kind of fever is Viral Fever. Only need to administer paracetamol for such fever will do. Usually will last 5-7 days and the temperature will goes up and down like a roller coaster. Most likely next day will be able to be discharged and go home, while they continue to monitor his situation till next day. Wow...was a happy news...at least he doesn't have any cough or running nose or even vomitting symptoms. At least prepare to go home next day if his temperature is still as low as today ie 36-37.8 degrees.
Tajie, Sanjie, Ailing and Jason came around 5pm. Sanjie told us Jason went to see Ailing's dermatologist at Toa Payoh Lor 4 and had around 9-10 jabs on his face as he has cysts or some dirty blood clot dat caused his pimples to have 1 big lump and bruised even though he didnt even press it with his fingers. Anyway the whole day ZoZo's was doing well. His temperature was quite good. Aunty Cloud came in the evening and went dinner with mum and sis before she went home.
Another long nite for us, but the thought of going home the next day just felt so relieved. ZoZo was happily playing at the nurses' station with one of the nurse until 11+. Then I told Alan to take a nap first until 2am then he take over from me. While the 2 boys (1 old 1 young) were sleeping, I was switching the channels to make myself awake. Until 1:45am, tak boleh tahan liao, I woke Alan up to switch role. Then I slept all the way....was way too tired...
19 Mar 2008
When I woke up, Alan told me ZoZo's fever went up again at aboutn 3am. Peak was 39.9. Haiz.... my fear comes again....when Dr Chee came for the morning review....piang!!! Bad news...ZoZo cannot be discharged le....cause his fever shot up high again, so they have to observe for another 24 hrs...."sob...sob".....gota pray hard that his temperature doesn't shot up again tonight. My MIL, Erjie and Emily came. Though his temperature is back to normal, but he is more cranky today and more attached to mum. Whoever touches him he will start to push them again and will whine. Mum came on her own as Diana has to settle some of her errands. Diana came with Mini in the afternoon, she bought alot of food from Pek Kio. Machiam camping in hospital lidat....
Aunty Mala and Aunty Mani came during lunch hour. When ZoZo saw Mala, he started to cry as well. Aiyo...duno y lah....guess all babies are the same when they are sick. Will definitely be more "sai-nai" loh...Rozi came with Fisa and Sakina after her checkup as her wound got infected again. Oh dear...after lunch my sleepy spell hit me again....went to take a nap until 4+. Received an sms from Lynn asking if can come visit ZoZo. Of cos can lah....happy to have visitors. When she came, then I realised she was also hospitalised last week due to food poisoning. Vomitted and many rounds of diarrhoea. Her pain was so excruciate until she can't tahan quickly ask Richard to take her to TTSH. Aiyo.....oso duno y suddenly lidat....her lil K oso kena 40 degree fever before...poor thing...
Ken came, bought ZoZo a "Get Well Soon" bear bear for ZoZo. Man are man, when they buy things, never look carefully, he actually took a pink coloured Tee bear for ZoZo...haha...it's ok lah, it's the thought that counts not the colour ya. Charles came as well after his appointment. Jason's mum came again, and all went Newton for dinner. Jason and Toni came for awhile after their dinner. Mum and sis left after 10pm. Alan duno has eaten what food, he gaut relaspe again. He was so tired as well so he slept after Ken left until around 11+pm. ZoZo is doing very well today, his temperature was very good. So good until he didnt want to sleep, carry him, patted him, stroll around, until 12+am still mai sleep....aiyo...he mai sleep i wana sleep man....his papa woke up and look after him. Duno what time played until wat time lah...i was already sleeping like a log.
20 Mar 2008
Was woken up by ZoZo's "mum..mum..mum..mum.." he was crying for his milk. His last paracetamol was 9pm last nite, whole nite no need to eat medicine. But when the nurse took his temperature at around 7am, it was 38 degress! Huh....went up again??!! The nurse quickly gave him a dose of paracetamol... Aiyo....please lah, dun just because of this gota stay 1 more nite???!! Fortunately when the Consultant Dr Chong came and annouced that he's ok to go home....WOW....fireworks started to light up in my heart!!!
Hip hip Hooray!!!! Finally can go home le!!!! Bathe him and change into clean clothes and wait for the pharmacist and the discharge advise. I told the nurse, now is 10am, from now to 1pm it's 4 hours, so the pharmacy will definitely has ample time to prepare his medication to bring home, DON'T make us wait until 2-3pm still not done with the discharge. Everything was cleared by 12:25pm...ha...we are FREE to go!!! Who know's my ZoZo is still sleeping soundly.....by the time he woke up had his milk, we left at 1:40pm..."bleah".... Paiseh, told the nurse I don't want to go after 1pm but, heee....because of ZoZo, we left late ourselves....haa....don't care lah...
Well, this incident has really send a warning to me that babies having fever is really no joke, can be damn SERIOUS. Never take fever treatment lightly when the temperature is high. Anywayz, regardless whether it's fever or not, should not take it lightly when our child has fallen sick. Don't ever try to act smart and be a doctor ourselves....never know what will happen next de...
